Before you rely on it

What the Hyperliquid field names do not tell you, how to read a liquidation, cursor paging and the caps that clamp silently.

Reading a liquidation

On Liquidations, direction is the side of the position that was closed: long means longs were liquidated, so the price fell. size_usd is the notional liquidated in USD, not the trader's loss.

Paging is by cursor

A list route returns nextCursor. Pass it back verbatim as cursor; do not build one. A cursor resumes after the last row's sort key, so rows inserted meanwhile do not shift the pages.

Two documented bounds are higher than the real ones

Top traders declares size up to 100 and serves at most 20, and Find a position declares limit up to 500 and serves at most 50. A request above the real cap is not rejected: it is served at the cap.

Cohort filters

axis and cohort narrow Positions, Leaderboard and Liquidation risk to one cohort. The ladders and their exact label strings are in HL Cohorts.

Whole days of fills and positions come as Parquet files; Download the Hyperliquid file archive carries the traps of reading them.
