Equity
The Equity asset class: what it means in Vike Trader's instrument taxonomy, which picker tab it appears under, and what it drives.
Equity — a share in a company, traded on a stock exchange. It is one of 11 asset classes in Vike Trader's taxonomy
(vike_catalog::AssetClass), and every instrument carries exactly one.
The taxonomy is deliberately an enum over one parametric Instrument, not a type per product.
That is the modelling decision the whole instruments tree turns on:
an instrument is a row of properties — tick size, lot step, minimum notional, session calendar —
and its class says how to read them, rather than a separate Rust type per product with its own
duplicated placement rules.
What the class drives
- The Symbol picker: this class appears under the Stocks tab.
- Symbology: what a symbol for this class looks like per venue, and which field map decodes it.
- Market hours: which session calendar applies, and therefore when an order can rest.
Where this comes from
vike_catalog::AssetClass and its picker-tab mapping, exported as rosters.json at every
release. Which venues carry which class is a property of each venue's catalog rather than of the
class, so it is on the venue pages instead of here.
Symbology
Core symbols versus exchange symbols, the .P perpetual suffix and which venues use it, and the declarative field map that turns a venue payload into instruments.
