How concentrated is Hyperliquid open interest? Top-10 wallets' share of BTC OI
Sum size_usd of the 10 rows from /v1/hyperliquid/positions?symbol=BTC&sort=size&limit=10 and divide by BTC's total_value from /v1/hyperliquid/positions/symbols.
GET /v1/hyperliquid/positions and GET /v1/hyperliquid/positions/symbols answer it in two calls. With
symbol=BTC&sort=size&limit=10 the first returns the 10 biggest open BTC positions, and the second returns each coin's
open interest as total_value, longs plus shorts, in USD. The top-10 share is the sum of the ten size_usd values over
BTC's total_value. For one side, divide the top longs by total_value_long, or the top shorts by
total_value_short. The full parameter lists are on Positions and
Open interest by coin.
Quick answer
Read the ten biggest positions, then the coin's open interest.
# the 10 biggest open BTC positions, largest first
curl -H "X-API-Key: $VIKE_API_KEY" \
"https://data.vike.io/v1/hyperliquid/positions?symbol=BTC&sort=size&limit=10"# open interest per coin; take the BTC row
curl -s -H "X-API-Key: $VIKE_API_KEY" \
"https://data.vike.io/v1/hyperliquid/positions/symbols" \
| jq '.[] | select(.symbol == "BTC")'Example response
Captured from the live API on 2026-10-24 at 17:15 UTC: the output of the second call, the BTC row of /positions/symbols.
The ten biggest positions, captured three seconds earlier, summed to $1,044.0M, so 29.7% of BTC's $3,517.5M open
interest sat in ten wallets. Five of the ten were shorts worth $726.8M, which is 41.2% of all BTC short interest; the
five longs held 18.1% of long interest. The top 20 held 39.0%. count is the number of open positions, 40,907 here.

The top 100. Raise limit for a top-100 share.
# the 100 biggest open BTC positions, for a top-100 share
curl -H "X-API-Key: $VIKE_API_KEY" \
"https://data.vike.io/v1/hyperliquid/positions?symbol=BTC&sort=size&limit=100"The share in one step. Total the ten rows and split them by side.
# the top-10 notional and its split by side, to divide by BTC's total_value
curl -s -H "X-API-Key: $VIKE_API_KEY" \

| jq '{top10_usd: ([.positions[].size_usd] | add), longs_usd: ([.positions[] | select(.direction == "long") | .size_usd] | add), shorts_usd: ([.positions[] | select(.direction == "short") | .size_usd] | add)}'Every coin at once, from the 5-minute file. For a concentration table across all coins, download the file of every open position and group it by asset and wallet in your own tools.
# a temporary link to the current open positions of every asset, refreshed about every 5 minutes
curl -H "X-API-Key: $VIKE_API_KEY" \
"https://data.vike.io/v1/hyperliquid/archive/url?dataset=positions&date=latest"Before you rely on it
Count both sides, or one side, never mix them
total_value adds longs and shorts, and on a perp venue the two are almost equal, so a top-10 share of
total_value is a share of both sides together. Divide top longs by total_value_long and top shorts by
total_value_short for a one-sided figure. Take both calls within the same few minutes: the positions refresh about
every 5 minutes and the share drifts with price.
A row is a position, not always one wallet
A wallet normally holds one position per coin, but one that flipped side in the last 15 minutes can be listed on both sides.
Group the rows by wallet before you call it a top-10 of wallets.
Ask your agent
Connected to the Vike MCP server (https://vike.io/mcp) in Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor, ask it in plain words.
The hl_market tool answers with view: positions and sort: size, then view: open_interest, at 1 credit a call.
